ATP-agreement

ATP is an international agreement on equipment for food transport and is short for "Agreement on the international carriage of perishable foodstuffs and on special equipment to be used for such carriage". The most popular ATP classes are FNA and FRC. The letter F means fridge unit, N normal insulation, R heavy insulation. A covers temperatures from +12 °C to 0°C and C from +12°C to - 20°C.

A type approval is needed to be able to produce ATP approved vehicles. The type tests are carried out by MTT Vakola in Finland. ATP approval means a certain insulation value of the body, a minimum effect on the fridge unit and that fridge and body are working together. A cool down test is carried out which proves that the fridge and body will work to the required temperature in the correct time.

Ekeri has a complete set of ATP type approved bodies and trailers with most equipment alternatives. The products can be made with fully side opening doors and ATP certificate. The ATP certificate is valid for 6 years after which the certificate can be renewed twice more, each for 3 years. An FRC body may also after 6+3+3 years pass the test for an FNA certificate for another 3 years. An approved body K-value may be a maximum of 0,70 W/m2 for FNA. FNA is used for transport of chilled and ambient goods that require a stable temperature in the range of +12 °C to 0°C. Transport of frozen goods require ATP class FRC, with a maximum K-value of 0,40W/m2. Ekeri's FNA and FRC solutions have a competitive unladen weight.
